A recent video posted by the Washington Commanders gives some excellent insight into the the kind of action that goes on in a Draft Day war room.
The Commanders, who held the No. 16 overall pick in the draft, attempted to trade up to No. 14 with the New England Patriots. Washington offered a fourth-round pick in addition to the swap, but the Pats wanted a third-rounder.
The Commanders declined and decided to sweat it out.
Fortunately for Ron Rivera and the Washington franchise, they still got their guy — selecting cornerback Emmanuel Forbes with their original No. 16 overall pick.
Take a look at the video here:
The Patriots ended up trading back with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who selected offensive tackle Broderick Jones at No. 14. The New York Jets selected edge rusher Will McDonald IV with their No. 15 overall pick, leaving the door open for the Commanders to select Forbes at No. 16.
The Patriots ended up selecting cornerback Christian Gonzalez at No. 17.
