One of Tennessee's top rivals received the toughest 2024 SEC schedule

The SEC didn’t do the Tennessee Vols any favors on Wednesday night during the 2024 SEC schedule reveal.

Tennessee learned on Wednesday night that they’ll face the three-head monster of Alabama/Florida/Georgia in 2024. They’ll also play on the road against Oklahoma (games against Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and Kentucky round out the Vols’ 2024 schedule).

While that schedule isn’t ideal for Tennessee — specifically the game in Athens against Georgia — there’s at least a bit of relief for the Vols with the games against Kentucky, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Vanderbilt. Those are all games that UT should win.

Florida doesn’t play Alabama in 2024, but their schedule is still brutal. In fact, it appears to be the toughest 2024 schedule for any SEC program.

The Gators’ eight game 2024 SEC schedule features matchups at home against Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M. Florida will play on the road against Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Texas. The Gators will also play Georgia in Jacksonville.

Of those matchups, the only one I feel like the Gators should win is against Mississippi State. An argument could be made for the Kentucky game, but the Wildcats have won three of their last five matchups against Florida (UK currently has a two-game winning streak in the series).

In addition to the Gators’ tough SEC slate, Florida also plays non-conference games against Miami, UCF, and Florida State (the game against the Seminoles is in Tallahassee).

2024 will be year three of the Billy Napier era (assuming he makes it through the 2023 season). It could be tough for Napier to keep his job beyond 2024 with that gauntlet of a schedule on the horizon.
