OU fans react to release of SEC opponents Sooners will face in 2024

The University of Oklahoma football team and its fans learned which SEC opponents the Sooners will play when they join the conference in 2024.OU held a watch party Wednesday night to celebrate the occasion as the opponents and home and away designations were unveiled.”All the fans and the atmosphere is going to be a big change. It’s going to help out a lot,” Jake Hiatt, who is an OU RUF/NEK, said.OU fans were filled with energy as they got a first look at which conference opponents the Sooners will play during its first season in the SEC. Hiatt, who has stood on the sidelines for three years with a paddle in hand, said he likes what he saw when the news rolled out.”It’s all about that culture,” he said. “It’d like to see Alabama. I think that’d be a good one. And South Carolina with Spencer Rattler.”OU will play Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee in Norman and travel to Dallas for the annual Red River Showdown against Texas. The Sooners will hit the road to take on Auburn, LSU, Missouri and Ole Miss.”There might be a few tough opponents but nothing that we won’t take over,” Hiatt said.Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking here.The RUF/NEK told KOCO 5 that it’ll be an exciting time for students who come to OU after his time, saying they’ll get to see the university exit the Big 12.”Possible stadium expansion, and the move to the SEC, it’s going to be even more surreal for the new students,” Hiatt said.Brent Venables, who will enter his third season as OU’s head coach when the move to the SEC happens, commented on the intensity SEC football brings.
