The WNBA’s rise in popularity doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. The league is set to expand to 18 teams over the next five years, with Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia all expected to join by 2030.

For the Philadelphia franchise, we know that 76ers owner Josh Harris and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment will be the majority owners. However, there is also interest from the Kelce family in becoming part of the ownership group.

The Kelce last name is strongly tied to Philadelphia, with Jason Kelce considered one of the greatest Eagles players of all time.

Kylie Kelce wants minority ownership

Kylie Kelce, Jason’s wife and a Philadelphia native, has revealed her interest in investing in the city’s future WNBA franchise. During an episode of her Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast, she said: “I’m just saying it would be really cool if it was female-owned. But if you need additional female investors, maybe call me.”

With Kylie floating the idea of a “female-owned” franchise, we can only wonder if she might try to invite Taylor Swift, if she’s serious about her interest in the team. But for now that’s all we now.

Afterward, Kylie expressed her excitement about the project. “Philadelphia is a passionate fan base. I’m so excited for a WNBA team to be able to experience that level of passion,” Kelce said.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to not only go and watch WNBA games right here in Philadelphia, but also to bring my girlies because they are due to be giants. And I say that being a giant myself, maybe at least one of them will be into basketball,” Kylie added.
