Financials, utilities sectors lead S&P 500 higher

The S&P 500 was higher on Monday afternoon, led by gains in the financials and utilities sectors.

The S&P 500’s financials sector was the best performer among the large-cap benchmark index’s 11 sectors, up 1.1% as of 2:30 p.m. Eastern time, while the utilities sector was surging 0.9%, according to FactSet data.

The Dow was rising over 300 points, or 0.7%, to remain near its session high of 42,476, while the Nasdaq Composite was popping 0.4%, according to FactSet data.
