Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite continued to trudge higher, leaving both on track to finish in record territory once again.

The S&P 500 was up 20 points, or 0.4%, at 5,950.

The Dow was down 50 points, or 0.1%, at 43,690.

The Nasdaq Composite was up 128 points, or 0.7%, at 19,109.
