The general managers had a day. The NHL trade rumors were indeed chatter, and they became real Friday in a day of shockers, beginning with the Penguins dealing Tristan Jarry to the Edmonton Oilers and ending with the Vancouver Canucks dropping the big one when they traded Quinn Hughes. Much of the Daily will be the various analyses from scouts and opinion makers. Elsewhere, Edmonton made a second, smaller trade, Victor Hedman underwent an elbow procedure, and which players’ stock is rising and falling for Team Canada.
What a day.

I know some look at the story, curious about new foods or places that I’ve discovered. After a long Friday, a handful of stories, a pretty rambunctious Live Chat, and then writing some national stories for the trades, I treated myself … to microwave burritos.
Perhaps someday I’ll grow up. Gen X. They should convert old shopping malls for our nursing homes. Add a Chic-Fil-A, a Sbarro, a Camelot Music, a K-B Toys, and an arcade, and we’ll all be just fine. Maybe a movie theater and a Foot Locker. Add a train for the kids to visit, too.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Here we go–we’ll skip the news story (that we were already writing with some little sourced tidbits), and let’s go straight to the Penguins trade analysis.

To make some room, the Penguins had to swallow hard and waive defenseman Matt Dumba. The team also activated Rickard Rakell from IR. The Penguins news kept coming.
And GM Kyle Dubas spoke to the media. It was a tight scrum, and we were all trying to jump in with questions. I’ll admit, my scrum game stinks. I just never really know when someone is wrapping up an answer. Dubas laid out the future of the crease and how everything will shake out over the coming weeks. What’s next after trading Jarry?
