Even as BlackRock posted per-share earnings for the second quarter that topped Wall Street’s forecasts, the firm’s shares fell meaningfully on Tuesday and underperformed the market.

Shares fell 6% as the S&P 500 rose 0.25%.

BlackRock’s stock was the worst performer in the S&P 500 around 10:30 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday morning. It was on pace for its largest percentage decline since the first week of April, when the Trump administration’s tariff announcements pressured the broader market.
