Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Nifty 50 slipped below the 23,550 mark, marking a decline of 162 points to end at 23,526.5. The Sensex fell 528 points to settle at 77,620, as broader market sentiment remained bearish. Frontline indices lost nearly 1% each, while the Nifty Midcap index extended its losing streak, dropping for the fourth time in five sessions, closing 525 points lower at 55,746.

Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Indian stock market closed near the day’s low on Thursday. Sectorally, all indices except FMCG ended in the red, with the Nifty Realty index taking a hit of nearly 3%. Chemical stocks rose after a hike in US refrigerant gas prices. SRF was the standout performer, rallying 14%. In the FMCG space, Nestle and Hindustan Unilever emerged as the top Nifty gainers, buoying investor sentiment in an otherwise weak market.

IT majors TCS and IREDA saw declines of up to 3% ahead of their Q3 results, while financial stocks faced headwinds. Manappuram Finance, after climbing to intra-day highs, retreated more than 7% before closing nearly 1% lower. MFI stocks also ended in the red following the outcome of a key MFI meeting, with CreditAccess falling over 3%.

Among midcaps, Kalyan Jewellers dropped for the fifth consecutive session, slipping over 6%. In contrast, Bajaj Auto gained 2% after receiving an upgrade to “outperform” from CLSA. Swiggy shares rose over 3% following the launch of its standalone Instamart app, signalling optimism about its expansion in the quick commerce space.
