The stock market was looking to build on its latest wave of momentum, but the twists and turns on President-elect Donald Trump’s tariffs plans shook things up.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 220 points, or 0.5%. The S&P 500 was up 1.1%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 1.7%. Nvidia and other semiconductor stocks were rallying, but utilities and consumer staples were the only major S&P 500 sectors on the decline.
The yield on the 2-year Treasury note was at 4.287%. The 10-year yield was up to 4.623%.
