S&P 500 on pace to notch weekly gain as U.S. stocks mostly rise midday Friday

U.S. stocks were mostly rising midday Friday, with all three major benchmarks on track for weekly gains.

The S&P 500 was up 17 points, or 0.3%, at almost 5,859.

The Nasdaq Composite was advancing nearly 102 points, or 0.6%, to 18,475.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 41 points, or 0.1%, at around 43,198.

For the week, the Dow and S&P 500 were each on track to gain around 0.8% while the technology-heavy Nasdaq was on pace to rise 0.7%, according to FactSet data midday Friday.
