(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 19 – European Union investments around the world are different because they don’t create dependency, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told ANSA in an interview after her swing through Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico Monday. “EU investments in the world are different. They do not create potentially harmful dependencies”, she said. The EC chief drew a “very positive” balance from her trip, highlighting the great “level of interest and commitment” found and insisting on the “peer-to-peer approach” of the EU investment plan, quite different from the Chinese Bekt &Road Initiative (BRI), or New Silk Road, to which she implicitly referred but did not explicitly mention.
