COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Boone County Circuit Clerk has told ABC 17 News that she plans on retiring next month.
Christy Blakemore, a Democrat, was first elected to the position in 2006. She won that primary election decisively over Missy Marlett and Beverly Steelman. She ran unopposed in the General Election each year after, including her most-recent reelection bid 2022.
She will retire July 1.
“I just decided it was time,” Blakemore wrote in an email. “I’ve been eligible to retire for a while now and I want to have time to spend with family and friends.”
An eventual replacement for Blakemore will be appointed by Gov. Mike Parson.
