President Joe Biden has directed the U.S. military to aid Israel in its defense against the Iranian attack and is monitoring the situation from the White House.

“President Biden directed the U.S. military to aid Israel’s defense against Iranian attacks and shoot down missiles that are targeting Israel,” said a brief statement from the administration.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are monitoring the attack from the White House Situation Room and getting updates from their national security team.

A regular White House press briefing was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Eastern and could yield more details about the administration’s response.
