S&P 500 Wobble as Market Rediscovers Gravity

Stocks began the first session of December in an early hole after rebounding furiously to end November in positive territory.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 60 points, or 0.1%, after opening lower. The S&P 500 was down 0.3%. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.4%. The major indexes have more-than-halved their initial declines in the first half-hour of trading.

“After a zero-gravity rally on Friday that pushed the S&P 500 into positive territory for the month and extended the S&P 500’s monthly winning streak to seven, equities are rediscovering gravity to start December,” writes Bespoke Investment Group co-founder Paul Hickey.
