S&P 500, NASDAQ and Dow Jones drop as Wall Street ends on lower side: Top Wealth Group Holding Limited gains 271%, SMX drops sharply; check top gainers and losers

Wall Street ended lower on Monday (December 8, 2025), as all three major indices fell and most S&P 500 sectors closed in the red. Most S&P 500 industry sectors ended in the red. Preliminary data revealed that the S&P 500 lost 22.56 points, or 0.33%, to end at 6,847.84 points, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 29.33 points, or 0.12%, to 23,549.62. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 208.31 points, or 0.45%, to 47,740.99, according to news agency Reuters. Treasury yields gained as investors waited nervously for the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy update due in two days.

According to Reuters, hopes for a December rate cut were solidified after last week’s data that showed consumer spending increased moderately toward the end of the third quarter. However, investors are still waiting for clues about future policy moves from what is expected to be the most divided Fed in years.

In individual stocks, Paramount Skydance’s hostile $108.4 billion bid to buy Warner Bros Discovery garnered investor attention as it aimed to outbid Netflix.
The bid sent shares of Warner Bros Discovery higher while Paramount’s shares rallied sharply and Netflix sank. Netflix was a drag on the S&P 500 Communication Services Index, which lagged during the session. Technology was the strongest sector, with boosts from Microsoft, Nvidia and Broadcom.

NASDAQ: Top gainers and losers

As of December 8, 2025, at 4:16 PM ET, several stocks posted notable advances. Top Wealth Group Holding Limited (TWG) led the gains with a sharp increase of 271.1636%. It was followed by Orangekloud Technology Inc. (ORKT), which rose 150.5376%, and Wave Life Sciences Ltd. (WVE), up 147.263%. Cemtrex Inc. (CETX) also saw a strong advance of 129.6417%, while WEBUY GLOBAL LTD. Class A Ordinary Shares (WBUY) climbed 106.0914%.
In contrast, the most declined stocks showed significant losses during the same period. SMX (Security Matters) Public Limited Company (SMX) recorded the steepest drop at -59.0879%, and the NXG Cushing Midstream Energy Fund (SRV) followed with a decline of -54.878%. Another security linked to Security Matters, SMXWW, fell -47.8596%. Meihua International Medical Technologies Co., Ltd. (MHUA) decreased -45.7204%, while FiscalNote Holdings, Inc. (NOTE) closed lower by -44.5141%.
