Field Notes From the Chapters
It’s nine o’clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
When Piano Man Billy Joel decided to sell the gargantuan Long Island estate he had first observed as a teenage oysterman trawling the local bay, it had enough gravitas to merit a feature article in the New York Times. The estate rests on the same 123-mile glacial moraine that is now home to more than eight million people. Yep, Long Island is just a pile of rocks dumped by the last Ice Age glacier as it melted away 25,000 years ago. But, oh, what a pile!
Money analogies abound. Prosperous, productive Long Island could be a metaphor for the magic of compound interest over a lifetime, or the expansive power of generational wealth.
Many chapter meetings pay homage to these ideas. Some focus on solving problems, others on building skill. Some recent examples include:
“How to Develop an Effective Investing Strategy” (San Diego),
“Obscure Social Security Rules” (Puget Sound),
“Unlocking Real Estate Investment Potential” (Austin) and
“Dividend Investing & Asset Quality” (Houston).
Something for everyone, everywhere and everywhen.
Few of us will journey from oysterman to Piano Man, but most of us will segue from starry-eyed newbie to seasoned shareholder. Let our chapter meetings help you navigate from first stage to final payout. You’ll be sharing a drink they call prosperity, and it’s better than drinkin’ alone!
