WATCH | Price of basic commodities surge in Zimbabwe

HARARE – The price of basic commodities in Zimbabwe has shot up.

It has worsening the plight of already cash-strapped citizens.

Economists says the war in Ukraine affected the surge.

The country is currently using the Zimbabwean RTGS dollar and foreign currencies especially the US Dollar and South African Rand.

The already struggling Zimbabwean economy has seen the price of basic commodities like bread, cooking oil and milk among others shooting up by 50 to 100 percent.

Zimbabweans says they are struggling to afford basic necessities.

Zimbabwe’s retailer’s association says increases are due to higher supplier costs.

Zimbabwe’s current annual consumer price inflation is over 72 percent.
